about

Following on from 2015’s ‘reunion’ album Time Equals Function, Turnstyle return with Happy Factories. 12 new songs produced by Adem K, self –recorded with song writing by all four members of the band.

Sir History starts the record deceivingly low key before it explodes into a riff that Cheap Trick would trade their teeth for. We Are 18 harkens back to a vintage Turnstyle sound but with an unusually tender lyric. Killer is a saturated celebration of heritage featuring crunchy guitars and sliding synths. Breezy is a mixture of urgent vocals and sweet harmony presented in a modern arrangement. The Trojan horse of the album! Jessie’s Amazing Chorus – who is Jessie? Did he really provide the chorus? This press release won’t tell you but the drummer plays a great guitar solo on this! Go In Strong and Caught A Break are two, short, clever pit-stops just to let you get some air. Send In The Drums! Is Turnstyle’s tribute to drummers who reside afar so they got the best second drummer of all time, Bob from Pavement to scream on it. Palance was actually written in the mid 2000s while the band was on haitus but was polished up for this release. Spells is a pop gem in the tradition of past Turnstyle favourites while B-Glo and When Will We See Snow? complete the record in unifying group chants. Symbolic of the band’s supportive collaboration musically and personally as the record was in fact conceived during several tumultuous and life-changing events for it’s members.
